Full Time – Boat Skipper of Disability Vessels & and Financial Assistant.
(Ref: LRAFA1A2025)

Reports To: General Manager of Lough Ree Access for All CLG.

Lough Ree Access for All CLG is seeking a versatile professional for a unique dual-responsibility role that combines the duties of a P2 class passenger boat skipper with general office administration and financial support. This position requires expertise in safe boating operations, along with skills in office management, financial reporting, and business development, emphasising the provision of accessible boat trips for people with disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Boating Operations

• Skipper LRAFA’s P2 Class Passenger Vessel on Lough Ree and River Shannon
• Conduct pre-departure safety checks on vessel, equipment, and safety gear
• Sanitise boat and equipment before each voyage
• Assist passengers with life jackets and embarkation/disembarkation
• Ensure proper securing of wheelchairs on deck
• Assist with boat launching, retrieval, and maintenance

Financial & Business Management Assistant

To Assist the Lough Ree Access for All Finance/Funding Manager with the following tasks:
• Assist with monthly management accounts and general accounting duties
• Process payments and collaborate with auditors
• Assist with payroll and preparation of financial reports
• Handle tax returns and develop new income streams
• Build partnerships within the disability sector
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain professional standards

LRAFA is an award-winning social enterprise providing accessible boat and angling trips for people with disabilities. The role requires participation in disability awareness training programs. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required, to meet service demands.

QUAILIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid P2 or equivalent Passenger Boat Qualification.
• Clean driving license with Category W (tractor)
• Proven sales, networking, and business development skills
• Minimum 1 year administrative or bookkeeping experience
• Expert Microsoft Office skills

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in angling and angling tourism
• Experience working with people with disabilities
• Inclusive Adventure Activities Training
• Safeguarding qualification
• Tourism Management Development or similar academic qualification –
• Basic accounting certification
• Knowledge of Accounting and Payroll Software

 

Salary: €30,000 Commensurate with experience/qualifications. Application Deadline: February 11th, 2025
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week as per disability vessel service demands. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required, to meet service demands is essential
Contract: Initial contract for 12 months – which may be extended.

Reports To: General Manager of Lough Ree Access for All CLG.

Lough Ree Access for All CLG is seeking person for a unique dual-responsibility role that combines the
duties of a P2 class passenger boat skipper with a digital marketing coordinator role. This position
requires expertise in safe boating operations, along with skills in social media and digital marketing,
emphasizing the provision of accessible boat trips for people with disabilities and able-bodied persons.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Boating Operations

• To operate as a P2 Passenger Boat Skipper and/or crew member on a Rota basis in
accordance with Commercial Skipper Certification.

•To assist the Skipper and other crew members as directed with predeparture
inspection/safety checks on life jackets, equipment/chandlery.

•Secure wheelchairs to deck fastening points prior to departure

•To support all other staff when required including reception staff.

• To work evenings, weekends & bank holidays as required to meet service
demands.

Digital Marketing Coordinator

•Develop strong and innovative digital marketing strategies, to drive traffic to LRAFA pages
and generate interest in LRAFA activities and services.

•Create engaging written, graphic, and video content while staying up to date on latest
marketing technologies and social media trends.

•To create a substantial database and work with Chimp mail and other instruments to
promote the service among wheelchair users and disability groups.

•To participate as part our marketing team, in conceiving, developing, and executing Digital
Marketing and Social Media campaigns for LRAFA and possess a keen understanding of
the latest shifts and trends across digital platforms.

•Assist with the sourcing and cultivation of a portfolio of new clients and partnerships
online, with a focus on the development of new income streams and partnerships.

•To digitally record all current events at Lough Ree Access for All daily.

QUAILIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Essential Qualifications:

• Valid P2 or equivalent Irish Sailing Association Qualification
• Clean Driving License with Category W (Tractor)
• Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Target-driven, self-motivated, with high levels of self-discipline and drive.
• To be sociable, personable and demonstrate an ability to work well with a
small, dedicated team in this socially inclusive, community-based social
enterprise

•Safeguarding qualification

•Tourism Management Development or similar academic qualification

•Digital marketing or Social Media Qualification
